The Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce and the Streetsboro business community will honor graduating senior high school students whom are graduating with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. To sponsor a student for the Senior High School Luncheon please fill out the following sponsorship form.  Businesses may request to sponsor a specific student or students will be paired with businesses who reflect their future career ambitions. 2) Super Networking Event with Aurora, Kent, Ravenna, Mantua & Streetsboro Chamber Members...

3)  Streetsboro Tops County in Industrial Investments Increasing Investments into the County to $477.7 Million since 1992.

According to the Portage County Office of Economic Development the City of Streetsboro has increased its industrial investments $89.7 million since September of 2004.  Along with the Industrial Investments to the city and county there was also an increase in jobs creating a new 585 jobs, however there was a small reduction in job retained according to the tax incentive review committee tax abatement reports which reported 49 less jobs retained.  For the complete report of Portage Counties Industrial Growth Patterns visit the Download Center at www.portageworkforce.org/pcoed

 

4)  "Twelfth Annual Days of Caring" Show Your Company's Commitment to the Organizations of Portage County United Way

Employees of your company are invited to participate in the Twelfth Days of Caring event.  This is a volunteer mobilization event where United Way agencies identify projects and volunteers sign up to help with the work.  Last year approximately 70 volunteers worked on the different agency projects.  A Days of Caring T-Shirt with the logo of all participating companies will be provided for each volunteer; also a press release will be issues highlighting the various companies and agencies involved.    Call United Way of Portage County for a complete list of agency projects and volunteer release forms.  Contact Steve Kleiber at 330-297-4636 x 23.

7)  Streetsboro Landscaping Project

The Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce will be working with Mayor Mark J Pavlick and the City Planning Director Linda Kovacs on their ideas for a city landscaping project on the City Square.  We are asking you as a business owner and manager in the City of Streetsboro to consider donating to this project.  The flowers will be planted on the City Square and the entrances to the city by memorial day.  Donation Levels Include:  $25 Project Donation, $50 Flower Donation, $100 Perennial Donation, $500 Corporate Donation.  All donations can be made payable to the SACC and mailed to SACC, 9205 State Route 43, Suite 106...Streetsboro, Ohio 44241 or call Cathy Bieterman at 330-626-4769 for additional information.

8)  Streetsboro Family Days Set for July 28th to July 31st

Streetsboro Family Days is well underway with the preparations for this years event.  The festival will take place on July 28th, 29th, 30th & 31st.  Thursday - Car Show; Friday - Sonny Geraci, formally with the Outsiders & Climax; Saturday - Three Miles Out & Fireworks; Sunday - Sunday Bike Show and Poker Run.  Business booths & sponsorships are available at the four day event.  For a complete listing of booth space and sponsorships click here for the downloadable form.

10)  Geauga Lake Set To Open on May 28th!!!

Geauga lake's new waterpark, Wildwater Kingdom, is taking shape for its May 28 opening day.  With an aggressive construction schedule in place, the waterpark foundation is well under way for Phase I of this $26 million expansion project.  "We're working on a seven-day-a-week construction schedule," Tom Jones, Director of Maintenance, said.  "I am proud of the hard work our contractors have put into making this project a reality."

Currently crews are in the process of pre-assembling Splash Landing, Geauga Lake's new aquatic play structure and connecting children's pool.  Forms for the 60-foot-tall tornado slide, have been set while pieces of the slide arrive from Proslide Technologies, the manufacturer.  "Aside from changing the former wildlife property into a waterpark, we're also going to completely re-theme the entire Wildwater Kingdom side of the park."  Jones said. The front gate, storefronts and food service buildings will be redesigned to reflect a Caribbean theme.    Established in 1887, this amusement park boasts 10 roller coasters, 40 rides and attractions, two children's areas and a new waterpark opening May 28th, 2005. 

 

11)  Streetsboro JOB FAIR...April 20th...Over 20 Major Employers

The Streetsboro Chamber of Commerce will be holding its annual Job Fair this Wednesday, April 20th from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Streetsboro High School.  This job fair has over 25 employers looking for qualified candidates to fill area positions.
