    Job Description


    Positions:

    Shop Helper

    The Shop Helper serves as an assistant in various areas of the warehouse. Duties could include packaging, shipping & receiving, banding, operating the packaging line, operating a table saw, assembling pallets, operating a nail gun. This position frequently uses an overhead crane and forklift to move material around the warehouse. Opportunities to grow into specialized roles available.
     

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 2 years of dependable work experience
    • Basic math skills
    • Experience in heavy manufacturing setting strongly preferred
    • Experience in steel or steel-service center highly desired
    • Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred

    Slitter Operator
    The Slitter Operator safely performs position specific responsibilities in line with Olympic Steel’s Core Values to ensure the highest level of productivity and quality while adhering to all relevant company policies and procedures.  Is a safety leader at all times by personally observing all safety requirements and ensuring compliance from co-workers and visitors. Supports and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and strives to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in all areas of responsibility. Satisfy customer requirements of quality, quantity and delivery in a safe manner, while maximizing productivity. Sets up and operates slitting machine to cut sheet metal into strips of specified widths.

     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Previous experience running a Slitter.
    • Mechanically inclined, production oriented, and safety and quality conscious.
    • Basic math skills.
    • Detail oriented with ability to inspect material for quality conformance through the use of measuring devices and drawings.
    • Team oriented with effective communication skills.
    • Working knowledge of general computer programs.
    • Previous experience with precision instruments.
    • Previous experience in metals strongly preferred.
    Maintenance Technician
    • The Maintenance Technician supports and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and strives to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in all areas of responsibility. This person will plan procedures for the layout, construction, installation and maintenance of all production and office machines/equipment. This position will be 60-70% hydraulic/pneumatic and 30% electrical.
       
      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Ability to read manufacturing equipment drawings and electrical schematics.
    • Previous experience with hand tools and precision instruments.
    • Electrical Experience: 480V, 3-phase
    • General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices.
    • Detail oriented with ability to inspect material for quality conformance through the use of measuring devices and drawings.
    • Strong knowledge and ability to use hand tools and welding tools, as well as troubleshoot electrical systems.
    • Flexibility of work schedule.
    • Working knowledge of general computer programs.
    • Familiarity of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulics concepts.
