Our AmeriCorps Seniors Portage RSVP volunteers & friends from Homework Buddies; a partnership with Portage Metropolitan Housing Authority in Ravenna, gathered for a holiday party last month. We had a very special guest from the North Pole; Santa was a hit with the kids (both young and old) as we all enjoyed celebrating together!
Extra thanks to the PMHA staff for hosting a hot cocoa bar, thanks to the volunteers for sharing goodies and many thanks to friends of RSVP, Tom & Patti Shanley, for sending yummy treats for all to share!
If you would like more information about opportunities to mentor and tutor area youth in community settings, please contact RSVP staff at cshanley@fcsohio.org or 330.877.2495 |

Montgomery & Greene Counties
|
Last month, our volunteers in Montgomery and Greene counties served over 500 hours. This month, the number of volunteers is slowly but steadily increasing, and we welcomed two new volunteer sites in Greene county, Family Violence Prevention Center(FVPC) and Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center (XARSC).
One of the services FVPC offers is temporary housing for families affected by violence. They are dedicated to supporting their clients in various ways, and we are proud to partner with them. XARSC is also a vital part of the Xenia community. They offer various services and events to enrich the lives of seniors.
It is a pleasure to spread the word about such an uplifting place. We are thankful for the connections we have been making throughout our communities! |

Residents of Charles Meadows in Tiffin participated in the first service club meeting hosted by RSVP. Partnering with C.A.S.A. of Seneca, Wyandot and Sandusky county, residents and RSVP staff made holiday cards for every child who is a part of the C.A.S.A. network. Included in each homemade card was a piece of advice for each child and a wish for the holiday season.
Every month RSVP staff will bring in a service project for the residents to work on to help out a local nonprofit and organization.
If your organization has something that we can work on for you, please contact Ariel at 419-448-1530. |
